News |ASTC Laboratory Receives Type-C SASO/EN IEC 62680 Accreditation

In September 2024,ASTC Laboratory successfully passed the on-site audits of SASO/EN IEC 62680-1-2 and SASO/EN IEC 62680-1-3 testing capabilities, and became an authoritative third-party accredited laboratory after meticulous and strict on-site assessment by senior assessment experts.

At present,ASTC has completed more than 20 testing cases of Bluetooth headphones, Bluetooth speakers, tablet PCs, mice and keyboards.

European Union Regulations:

Directive (EU) 2022/2380 requires 13 types of products to adopt USB Type-C interface since December 28, 2024, CE-RED certification needs to submit EN 62680-1-3:2021 and EN 62680-1-2:2021 test report. Product types include smartphones, tablets, cameras, headphones, portable speakers and handheld video game consoles.

Saudi Arabian Standard:

SASO stipulates that from August 1, 2024, SASO IEC 62680-1-2 and SASO IEC 62680-1-3 test reports are required for 18 types of products applying for Saudi Arabia PCoC certification, and the product types include mice, keyboards, speakers, and cameras.

In addition, the mandatory time for using U Type-C interface is January 1, 2025 for products such as cell phones, tablets, e-readers, portable gaming devices, headphones, wired and wireless in-ear headphones, earphones and so on.
